Our Story
Hi, my name is Brooke-Lynn (15) and this is my brother Brysin (13). This is our Generation Homeschool Web Page. At SO GROUNDED™, we are passionate about learning and exploring the world around us. As homeschoolers, we believe in the power of autonomy and seek to gain a deeper understanding of our world through an Afro-centered curriculum. Our mother offers workshops that focus on self-knowledge and skill-building. To name a few, our sewing workshop has allowed our creativity to flourish. During this workshop, we learned how to make reversible laundry and tote bags using African textiles, while also studying the meanings behind different prints. Our Financial Kidz class allows us to discover financial literacy. We focus on financial skills with budgeting and saving to boost creativity and problem-solving through entrepreneurial projects. Each workshop is interconnected and builds upon each other.

Our goal is to attend The Wellness Cultural Exchange Trip in Dakar, Senegal in November 2024, and we need your support. With the skills we've gained from our workshops, we are dedicated to exploring our African heritage and connecting with the history of the African diaspora. Every purchase made will help us achieve this goal, and we are grateful for your contribution.
On this trip, we will indulge in new culinary experiences, participate in daily yoga and meditation, African dance, visit Goree Island, and visit local markets and workshops to learn about traditional Senegalese art forms. The experience will broaden our thoughts, enhance our personal growth, and deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
